Arizona real estate agent hailed hero after rescuing dog from burning home

MESA, AZ – Nick Reeves was down the street, showing a house in a neighborhood near Guadalupe and Sossaman in Mesa when he saw smoke in the air.

Investigating further, Reeves found a fire engulfing a home’s garage. Concerned someone might be inside, he tried to get their attention but received no response. Reeves, capturing the scene on his phone, took action by climbing a fence and entering the yard. He located a frightened dog inside and safely led it out. Firefighters arrived soon after to handle the situation.

Reeves, humbly deflecting praise, emphasized the firefighters’ role and noted he acted on instinct, imagining he would want help if it were his own home. “I figured, if this was my house, I would want someone to do the same thing,” he said.
