Kentucky K9 receiving Search and Rescue Dog of the Year award

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A police dog in Louisville is set to receive a national award on Sunday.

Pocket, a K9 search dog, has been named the Search and Rescue Dog of the Year by the American Kennel Club. She was chosen out of 600 nominations.

The Kentucky dog finds missing persons and human remains on land and water. She had her first live find when she was 2 years old, when she found a missing child in the woods, according to a news release. Pocket also found Native American burials dating back 2,000 years.
